A Blue Beginning....

...to the month of December for me! Two new skirts to add to my wardrobe...

Tippy Top

Having already made a red version I decided a black version would be ideal for wearing underneath several of Chloe's outfits to add some layers for winter warmth. This time instead of the buttons I used popper fastenings which work well with the very fluid jersey.

Bring on the blues

Chloe is a little short on cardigans, so I thought I'd try my hand at a waterfall style cardigan in sweatshirt fabric to complete an outfit made up of a navy jersey top and a polka dot babycord skirt. I didn't have a girls pattern suitable so I combined a girls cardigan pattern from Ottobre Design with two adults patterns - one from Ottobre and another from a french magazine Coudre c'est facile. Chloe and I are both pleased with the result....

Cosy Fleece

With the lovely thick frost and wintery sunshine we had this morning a warm cosy fleece seemed appropriate!

Emely Skirt

I was looking for a simple skirt  pattern for the last of this lovely babycord, so I used the pattern Emely by Farbenmix, but without the frill or deep pockets and added a small pleated pocket with a flap and popper fastening instead.

Comfy Cotton for Cooler Days

I made this outfit for Chloe using some supersoft brown babycord and some quite thick cotton jersey. I'd had the jersey for a while so it wasn't quite long enough for me to cut the bodice or sleeves as one piece, but in a way I'm glad as I enjoyed fiddling with the details and I like the result!

Navy Stripes

One for me this time! I made a top for Chloe in this thick cotton jersey fabric last year and really loved it, so when the occasion arose I bought some more for me. I wore my tunic for the first time on Friday - my husband admired it and one of my friends asked me several times where I got it thinking it was from Boden... She did make me laugh however when she got me to put my arms up to check the stripes matched!!! Just as well they did....

Drawing on Denim

Chloe needed a new denim skirt and was give a nice magenta and navy top for her birthday, so I thought it would be a good idea to decorate the denim to match.

I drew the flower onto the denim using a template from one of the Ottobre Magazines, then stitched it very slowly on my ordinary sewing machine.

If the hat fits.....

....wear it. She did - all weekend!

Chloe even chose the outfit to wear on her birthday to match her present!

Purple Roses

...Is the name of the top pattern and the material almost matches it's name! The top is teamed with the Wide Whale cord shorts from the same issue (Winter 2011) of Ottobre Design.

Autumn Colours

That's what I though of as soon as I saw this lovely sweatshirt fabric with its warm brown tones It's taken me several years however to decide what to use it for, but I finally decided to use a well loved dress pattern one last time before Chloe grows out of the pattern as well!

With which I thought a lime green top (and tights!) would look nice....

Noelle (part 2)

I've been wanting to make the 'Tippy' top from the Winter 2008 issue of Ottobre Design for some time, and at long last an elegant turtleneck top was in order....

Noelle (Part 1)

I finished this lovely velvet skirt on Tuesday and Chloe couldn't wait to try it on as soon as she got home. It was cool enough she was happy to keep it, so I got the opportunity to take some photos...

Upcycling

Or simply recycling.....On Friday morning it was little worn top of mine, by Friday afternoon it had become a new addition to Chloe's wardrobe, which she very modelled over the weekend!

Autumn Collection

As September can bring such a mix of weather I've started on a few autumnal outfits that can be worn anytime from now onwards....

Farbenmix Zilli denim skirt and long sleeve tee shirt from Ottobre Design

I had great fun creating my own pattern for the Eiffle Tower, ironing it on and then filling in the dots. It took a while but I'm very pleased, and most importantly, so is Chloe, with the result!

Sara skirt in embroidered black denim and long sleeved tee shirt both patterns from Ottobre Design. The tee shirt was made from a tee shirt of mine that was too low cut at the front, so I'm very happy with my bit of upcycling!
